At a distance of about 48 kilometers from Akola lies the famous and revered Shree Gajanan Maharaj Temple in Shegaon. Over the years, the Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan, which manages the temple, has initiated several social service projects with their recent addition being Anand Sagar, a perfect place for a perfect family outing. Anand Sagar is spread over 300 acres of landscaped garden; having more than 60,000 trees. It has temples, meditation halls, an amusement park and even a lake. An added attraction is the mini-train ride that provides the passengers a kaleidoscopic view of the Lotus Pond, Amphitheatre, Beautiful Ganesha, Shiva and Navagraha Temples. The Sansthan’s buses ply between temple premises and Anandsagar free of cost. Another popular tourist attraction in Shegaon is Nagzari Shiva Temple which is surrounded by a number of springs. Nearby is Gomaji Maharaj’s Samadhi inside a cave at Shrikheshtra Nagzari. Shegaon is also gaining popularity among tourists for its adventure sports facility. People of all ages can experience the thrill of go karting and bungee jumping. Well connected by road (close to NH 6) and railways (Shegaon railway station), these sites are visited by lakhs of devotees cum tourists every year.
