Katepurna Wildlife Sanctuary

Katepurna Wildlife Sanctuary in Akola is located near to the Katepurna Reservoir. The sanctuary encompasses a flourishing catchment area, making it a favourable habitat for a wide variety of birds and wild animals. This sanctuary is home to four horned antelope, barking deer, black buck, wolf, leopard, nilgai, hyena, flying squirrel, lizards, jackal, langoor, wild boars, etc. It also attracts a variety of resident and migratory birds like peafowl. On the fauna side, the tree species found here are tendu, bahada, khair, moha and salai among others. It has more than 115 plant species. The best time to visit this sanctuary is between October and June.
