Wan Sanctuary

An extension of the Melghat Tiger Reserve, Wan Sanctuary is situated at about 80 kilometers from Akola. Apart from tigers, wild life enthusiasts can catch sight of leopard, panther, sloth bear, hyena, Nilgai, four horned antelope, barking deer and wild dogs. The best time to visit this wildlife sanctuary is between October and February. Tourists travelling by railways can also catch a unique spiral called the Dhulghat Spiral located on the Akola-Khandwa meter gauge section. Its route resembles the digit 4 in Devanagari script.
